Dalton, GA - The Shorter Hawks (3-1-0) Men's Soccer Team suffered their first loss of the season as they tried to repeat a comeback win from Saturday's match but fell short to Dalton State 3-1 in the mid-week Northwest Georgia battle.
For the second consecutive game, the Hawks dug a hole for themselves conceding two first half goals and sought to rally back once again in dramatic fashion.
Trailing 2-0, Jackson Wheatley got the Hawks back in it with his 7th goal of the season from a great service by freshmen, Bailey Lopez in the 62nd minute.  The Hawks did a much better job breaking down the Dalton press in the second half creating a number of chances but could not find the equalizer.  Dalton (6-1-1) sealed the contest with two minutes to go to make it 3-1 as the Hawks were pushing forward looking to tie the game and duplicate another dramatic comeback as in Florida just 4 days ago.
"We played a much better second half," said Shorter Coach Paul Furey.  "But we can't spot a team two goals and expect to dig out of that every game. Overall, I thought we played pretty well in a tough environment to play in."
The Hawks come home to the confines of Ben Brady Field on Saturday as they host Georgia Southwestern University for a 4:00 kickoff.
