Hawks Come Back for the Win Against Sunshine State Foe

Daytona Beach - Senior captain Felix Guijosa's goal in the 88th minute completed a 3-2 comeback win over Sunshine State Conference opponent Embry-Riddle University Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks rallied from 2 goals down when Val Evans scored on a free kick to make it 2-1 at the half.

The host team controlled much of the first period but the second half was a different story as Jackson Wheatley scored the equalizer off a Thallison Alex pass.  It was Wheatleys team leading 6th goal. The Hawks outshot ERAU 5–1 in the second half before Guijosa scored the winner on a Corner kick.

"It was a tale of two halves and the strong tropical wind may of had something to do with that," said Shorter coach Paul Furey.

"They are a good team and they took it to us in the first half.  But I'm so proud how we turned that around in the second half for a very satisfying come from behind win on the road " added Furey.

Shorter (3-0) has won 3 straight to open the season and will be back in action Wednesday as they travel to Dalton State.
