ROME, Ga— Shorter University's Women Basketball team capped up their final game of 2019 with a heartbreaker loss to University of Montevallo with a one point deficit of 84-83. 

The Hawks fall to 0-8 while the Falcons will improve to 9-1 on the season. The last two periods Shorter and Montevallo scored the same amount of points but Shorter ultimately came up short. 

In a tough Gulf South Conference Matchup, there was a total of 22 times where the lead changed. With a back and forth game between the Hawks and Falcons. 

Leaders for the Hawks included Jasmine Gaines with a game high of 35 points along with three steals. Also, Gaines went 5-5 on three throw attempts while Tatum Ragsdale added in 13 points with 11 rebounds, three blocks and one steal. 

After the loss, the Hawks look to come out strong in 2020. Shorter will resume play on January 2nd with an away series against Delta State and then Mississippi College on the 4th.
