Rome, Ga. – Shorter University (0-7,0-3) played the University of West Alabama (6-3,2-2) in a Monday night matchup. Tip-off was at 5:30 pm and the Hawks were at home. Coming out strong in the first quarter Shorter only trailed the Tigers by one point. The Hawks lost a little steam in the second quarter only to pick it back up and leave it all on the court during the second half of the game.
The high scorers for the Hawks last night were
Christian Bolden and
Jasmine Gaines. Bolden came away with 19 points throughout the game along with five assists and four rebounds. Gaines had her fair share of points as well, scoring 18, with three assists, eight rebounds and four steals to help lead the Hawks to a strong game.
With the lead changing seven times and the score being tied twice it was a tight game the whole way. Shorter had 17 points off turnovers, and 27 fast-break points to end this game 76-82 with West Alabama on top.
