TUSKEGEE, Ala. – In their season opener, Shorter (0-1, 0-0 Gulf South) fell on the road to Tuskegee University (1-2, 0-0 SIAC) by a score of 68-28. The Hawks stumbled out of the gate and were never fully able to gain their footing in the remainder of the contest.
Jasmine Gaines led the Hawks with 15 points, pouring in over half of the teams scoring total for the evening. Gaines also had three steals and four rebounds in the loss. On the glass, Shorter was led by
Briana Burnett with six boards.
As a team, the Hawks could not get into any sort of rhythm throughout the game. After halftime, the team shot just 9.6% from the field. Over the course of the 40 minutes, the Hawks attempted 16 three-pointers but only connected on one; a triple from
Tatum Ragsdale to tie the game at five in the first quarter.
