Choctaws' Knock Off Hawks

ROME, Ga. - After falling behind early, Shorter (0-8, 0-6 Gulf South) was never able to quite catch Mississippi College (4-3, 3-2 Gulf South) on their homecoming, dropping the contest 41-20.

Throughout the contest, Aeneas Dennis performed well for the Hawks. Dennis ran for 99 yards, including a 62 yard touchdown run to get Shorter on the scoreboard in the second quarter. Through the air, Dennis threw for 145 yards on 15 completions.

Mississippi College attacked the Hawks using the run game, only attempting three passes all afternoon - completing just one. Allowing just one completion on the afternoon, Shorter tied their school record for fewest completions allowed. The performance against Mississippi College ties a 2006 game against the University of the Cumberlands.

Ethan Manns, Le'Chauz Langford, and Nehemiah Reddish all split the team-high in tackles with six each. Coming in just behind them, Xavier Robinson, Terrance Snellings, and Dejon Walden all contributed five tackles in the loss.

Nicholas Pope hit a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter, including a career-long 42 yarder, to try and chip away at the deficit. Gregory Fields Jr. added a 22-yard touchdown run to the fourth quarter scoring efforts.

Andrew Warren was Dennis' most-targeted on the afternoon, catching four passes for 63 yards. Fields Jr. also caught four passes out of the backfield, adding 18 receiving yards on the day.
