Box Score ROME, Ga. – On Saturday afternoon, Shorter University fell to 0-9 (0-7 Gulf South) on the season with a 38-6 loss to conference opponent Delta State (5-3, 4-2 Gulf South). After a weekend trip to Mississippi College last week, the Hawks looked to pick up a win to kick off a two-week homestand at Barron Stadium.

In the closing minutes of the first half,
Christopher Williams hauled in a diving interception on a ball that was bobbled by a Delta State wide receiver. On the play immediately following,
Brock Jackson caught a 38 yard touchdown pass from
Aeneas Dennis. The catch was the first career touchdown for Jackson and the longest pass in Dennis' young career.

On defense,
Terrance Snellings played another impressive game, recording 6.5 tackles, adding a sack and 3.0 tackles for a loss. Snellings also scooped up a fumble throughout the afternoon.
Nehemiah Reddish led the team with 7.0 tackles, while
Caleb Mason,
Xavier Robinson, and Jeffery Brewer each added 6.0 tackles.

Dennis led the Hawks in both rushing and passing yards, with 71 through the air and 27 on the ground.
Tyler Pullum added 55 passing yards on two completions late in the contest, including a 52 yard strike to
Elijah Gilbert.

For the special teams unit,
Brett Bardenwerper tallied 379 yards on 10 punts, including pinning Delta State inside the 20 yard line four times.

Shorter will remain at home to battle with Allen University (2-5) next weekend. With the contest being the final home game of the season, Shorter will honor their seven seniors (Pullum, Snellings, Gilbert,
Taegan Kilpatrick,
Le'Chauz Langford,
Sydney Parham, and
Corey Robinson) with a Senior Day ceremony. Kickoff for the final home game of the season is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
