Flames Fire Hawks in Five

CLEVELAND, Tn—The Women's Volleyball team traveled to Lee University for a midweek Gulf South Conference matchup. The Hawks had a hard-fought loss by going into five sets. With the first set of a final score of 36-34 Lee won then the Hawks came back by winning the second set 25-22, then the Flames took set three with a 29-27, Hawks captured set four with a score of 25-18 to send it into five sets. Unfortunately, the Flames took the last set 15-11.
 
After the game, Lee University improves their record to 9-10 and 4-3 in GSC. While Shorter falls to 6-13 and 0-7 in GSC. This season Shorter University has gone into five sets in nine of their games.
 
The Hawks led as a team with 73 kills, 72 assists and 113 digs. Mirella Gatterdam and Gracie Forbes tied with Lee's Quinne Daoust for game high of 14 kills each. While Lacee Glover added in 13 kills and 17 digs. Emily Wilson had a game high of 41 digs and contributed seven assists. Kendall Vondra had a game high of 38 assists.
 
Up Next
The Hawks will travel to Hoover, Ala to play in the GSC/SSC Crossover tournament on Friday and Saturday at the Finley Center. Game times for this weekend are Friday at 1:30 pm CT and Saturday at 9:00am CT and 4:45 pm CT.
