Montgomery, Ala. -- The Hawks earned the series win over Auburn Montgomery Monday afternoon with an 11-0 victory in eight innings.
With the win, Shorter moves to 19-18 overall and 9-12 in the GSC; while having won its fourth GSC series of the year and third consecutive. The Warhawks move to 15-22 on the season and 5-16 in conference play.
The Hawks got the scoring started in the second as
Luis Acevedo and
Bailey Gerstner scored on errors and
Hunter Reaid came in on an RBI double from
Matt Christian for the 3-0 score. Shorter then made it 4-0 in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from
Nathaniel Butterworth.
In the seventh, the hawks tacked on three, for the 7-0 advantage on a sacrifice fly from
Ivan Nunez and RBI singles from
Luis Acevedo and
Samyr Santos.
Ethan Radcliffe then extended the lead to 8-0 in the eight on an RBI single. Before Nunez added a 2-run double and Acevedo tallied a sacrifice fly for the 11-0 final score.
Banks Woodley earned the win, his fourth straight; allowing no runs on three hits with two strikeouts through seven innings of work.
Victor Santana pitched the final shut out inning, allowing a walk.
Santos finished the day 4-5 at the plate with an RBI; while
Isaiah Maddela, Reaid and Christian tallied two hits apiece.
The Hawks are back in action Wednesday as they travel to Georgia College for a non-conference matchup with the Bobcats. Shorter won the first meeting of the teams, 6-4.
