ROME --Â The Hawks fell to Montevallo, 10-2, Saturday morning from the Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex.
With the loss, Shorter moves to 20-21 on the season and 9-15 in conference play; while the Falcons improve to 30-13 overall and 16-7 in the GSC.
Montevallo jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first as Caleb Ledbetter delivered a three-run homer to put his team ahead. And added to it in the second with a run, before putting the game out of reach with three runs in the fourth for the 7-0 score.
The Hawks broke through in the fourth, with a pair of runs; taking advantage of three Falcon errors.
Isaiah Maddela scored the first run after reaching base on a single to right field and came in to score on a single from
Luis Acevedo.
Victor Perez also scored on the play, after a throwing error from the first baseman, for the 7-2 score.
Montevallo added three runs in the seventh for the 10-2 final score.
Rhys Pollock took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits, without recording an out in the first.
Micah Wyatt added 3.2 innings; allowing four runs on seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Grant Jacobs tallied 2.1 innings, allowing three runs on two hits with two walks.
Jacob Farmer pitched the final three innings, allowing three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Acevedo led the offense with two hits; while four other added one apiece.
The Hawks will look to get back on track Tuesday, April 17, as they travel to Emmanuel for a 3:00pm start. Shorter won the first meeting of the teams this season, 7-5.
