ROME --Â The Hawks extended their win streak to three games with a midweek, 3-1, win over Carson-Newman Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, Shorter moves to 14-16 overall and; while the Eagles move to 18-13 on the year.
After Carson-Newman took an 1-0 lead in the second, the Hawks came back in the bottom of the third to tie the game on an RBI single from
Ricky Alvarez to bring in
Luis Acevedo; who reached on a walk earlier in the inning. And, added to it in the fourth for the 3-1 final score.
Matt Christian scored the first run of the inning on an RBI single from
Ivan Nunez, before coming in on an error by the first baseman later in the inning.
Rhys Pollock earned his second win of the season; allowing one run on two hits with three walks through five innings of work. While,
Peyton Moore tallied his second save, with a four-inning appearance in relief; allowing two hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Victor Perez finished with two hits; while five others added a hit apiece.
The Hawks will be back in action this weekend as they welcome Alabama Huntsville to Rome for the three-game series beginning Friday at 12:00pm.
