Florence, Ala. --Â North Alabama completed the series sweep of the Hawks Monday afternoon with a 5-1 win.
With the loss, Shorter moves to 9-13 on the season and 2-7 in conference play; while the Lions improve to 14-7 overall and 7-2 in the GSC.
Shorter got on the board first, scoring the first run on the game in the second inning as
Victor Perez delivered an RBI single to left field to bring in
Angel Acosta. Only to have North Alabama take the lead in the bottom of the inning with two runs. Before adding a run in the third and two in the sixth for the 5-1 final score.
Banks Woodley took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts through five innings of work.
Perez,
Hunter Reaid and
Bailey Gerstner each finished with two hits in the game; while
Matt Christian and Acosta each added one.
The Hawks will be back in action this weekend as they welcome West Georgia to the Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex for a three-game series. Saturday's doubleheader is set to begin at 12:00pm; while Sunday's finale is set for 1:00pm.
