Young Harris, Ga. --Â The Hawks topped Young Harris, 10-4, Friday afternoon to close out the three game series.
Shorter (3-4) got on the board first, scoring in the second as
Ethan Radcliffe scored on a ground out from
Angel Acosta. Before adding to it in the third on a 2-RBI homer from
Samyr Santos and making it a 4-0 game in the fifth on an RBI single from
Victor Perez.
The Hawks then extended their lead in the sixth to 8-0 on an RBI single from
Luis Acevedo and a 3-run homerun from Santos.
Young Harris (2-4) countered in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead in half, 8-4. Only to have Shorter answer in the seventh for two runs on an RBI triple from Acosta, who then added the final run of the game when he came in on a wild pitch for the 10-4 score.
Trey Urban earned the win, to move to 1-1 on the season; allowing one run on one hit with six strikeouts through five innings of work. While,
Victor Santana tallied his first save of the season, pitching the final 3.2 innings of scoreless ball.
Radcliffe finished the day 3-5 at the plate; while Santos, Perez and Acosta each tallied two hits.
The Hawks return home Tuesday afternoon to host Carson-Newman in a non-conference matchup. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
