Montevallo, Ala. -- The Hawks fell to Montevallo 75-61 Tuesday night on the road.

With the loss, Shorter slips to 2-14 overall and 2-6 in the GSC; while the Falcons improve to 8-8 on the year and 3-4 in conference play.

The Hawks jumped out to an early lead, taking an 11-4 advantage on a three from Josh Burnett, and added to it over the next three minutes. But, from there Montevallo began chipping away, and used a 9-1 run to tie the game at 19-19 with just over nine minutes to play. Before taking the lead for good on a three from Tyler Updike with 6:20 to play in the half, and holding a 33-27 advantage at the break.

In the second half, the Falcons saw their largest lead of the game when Deshawn Jones netted a layup with 8:46 to play, making it a 64-45 game. Only to have the Hawks tally a 9-0 run to cut the lead to ten moments later, but that would as close at they'd get over the final minutes as Montevallo held on for the win, 75-61.

For the night, Shorter shot 31 percent for the game; while the Falcons turned in a 50 percent night from the field.

TayVaughn Major and Burnett led the Hawks with 16 points apiece; while Amonte Potter added 15 and both Joseph Bobbitt and Drew Thomas chipped in with six each. Bobbitt led the effort on the glass with a season high eight rebounds to go along with six from Major.

Chris Williams led Montevallo with 17 points.

The Hawks are back in action Saturday, January 13, when they travel to longtime rival, Lee University, for a 7:00pm start from Walker Arena.
