ROME --Â The Lady Hawks made quick work of Mississippi College Friday evening, sweeping the Lady Choctaws in three sets for their third straight with and 17th straight from the Winthrop-King Centre.
Shorter moves to 9-4 on the year and 3-1 in conference play with the win, while MC goes to 7-8 overall and 1-3 in the GSC.
For the match, the Lady Hawks were dominant from the service line, turning in 10 aces for the game, whereas the Lady Choctaws managed just two. Shorter tallied 25-19, 25-20 and 25-22 set scores to post the victory.
Tiffani Estep led the attack, tallying a team high nine kills; while
Morgan Cleveland added six and
Annie Homan and
Madeline Munroe finished with four each.
Alli Bell led the way with 18 assists, to go along with 15 from
Tinsley Fain. While, Bell, Homan, Cleveland and Fain each recorded two aces.
On the receiving end, Cleveland led with 13 digs; while
Cheyenne McLemore chipped in with 10 and Homan added nine. At the net,
Kelsi Jones posted a team high four blocks – all assisted.
The Lady Hawks will look to keep the momentum going Saturday afternoon when West Alabama visits the Winthrop-King Centre for a 2:00pm start.
