MEMPHIS --Â The Hawks fell to Christian Brothers, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon from Memphis, Tenn.
Shorter moves to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in the GSC with the loss; while the Bucs improve to 4-3 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
The game remained scoreless until late in the first half when Christian Brothers struck for the first goal of the game with four minutes to play in the opening frame. And, added to it in the opening minutes of the second half, before tacking on a final score in the 70th minute. The Hawks then broke through for a goal of their own as
Jordan Etsio netted a pass from
Hassane Traore for the 3-1 score on their next possession.
In total, CBU outshot the Hawks 16-6 and held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Both, Traore and
Felix Guijosa, tallied two shots in the game; while Etsio and
Jeremy King accounted for one each. And, Shorter goalkeeper,
Sean Carpenter, made four saves in goal in a complete game performance.
The Hawks will take a break from conference play on Tuesday, September 26, as they travel to take on North Greenville for a 7:00pm start from Greenville, S.C. Before, travelling to longtime rival, Lee, for a GSC matchup on Friday evening.
