Guijosa's golden goal lifts Hawks over Union

Jackson, Tenn. -- Felix Guijosa delivered the golden goal in the 107th minute to give the Hawks a 2-1 win over Union on the road Friday night.

The win improves Shorter to 2-5 on the year and 2-1 in conference play; while the Bulldogs move to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the GSC.

Union took the lead early in the match, netting the first score of the night in the 13th minute. Only to have the Hawks tie things up just before the break as Hassane Traore recorded his second goal of the year on a pass from Guijosa. From there both teams looked for the go ahead, with neither coming up with it in regulation. In overtime, however, it was Shorter who finally broke through as Guijosa netted the winner on a feed from Justen Macias.

In total, Union outshot the Hawks 22-13, but it was Shorter who held the advantage in shots on goal, 6-4.

Shorter 'keeper, Sean Carpenter, posted three saves in goal; while Guijosa and Traore led the attack with three shots each.

The Hawks will look to keep the momentum going Sunday afternoon at Christian Brothers; kickoff is set for 4:30pm EST.
