ROME -- The Lady Hawk opened the year Saturday afternoon, falling to Trevecca Nazarene 3-1, at home.
Despite chances from both teams the game remained scoreless until the 40th minute, when Shorter's
Taylor Hendrix found the back of the net on a free kick after a Trojan foul.
The score stood, through the remainder of the half, and in to the second period when Trevecca produced the equalizer midway through. Before taking the lead on the second goal of the afternoon from Lauren Winters with five minutes to play and adding a final goal moments later on a corner kick for the 3-1 final score.
In total, the Trojans outshot the Lady Hawks 16-8 and held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Jamie Allen played the complete game in goal for Shorter, making four saves.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action on Tuesday, September 5, as they travel to Dayton, Tenn. to take on Bryan College. Game time is set for 4:30pm.
