Lady Hawks earn 1-0 senior day win

ROME -- The Lady Hawks tallied their third win of the year and second of the week, in a 1-0 decision over Alabama Huntsville Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Shorter moves to 3-12-1 on the season and 2-11 in conference play; while the Chargers go to 6-10 overall and 4-9 in the GSC.

The Lady Hawks scored what proved to be game winner as Fiorella Gamarra converted a penalty kick for her first score of the year after drawing a foul in the box in the 11th minute.

In total, Shorter outshot UAH 12-7; while the Chargers led in shots on goal 4-3.

Taylor Hendrix led the offensive effort with five shots – two on goal; while Corrie Thomas added three shots in the contest. Four additional players each added one. Jamie Allen made the start in goal, earning the first clean sheet of her career. Sydney Durham came in for the final three minutes, adding one save.

The Lady Hawks are back in action on Thursday at longtime rival, Lee, in the final game of the season. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
