Cleveland, Tenn. --Â The Lady Hawks closed out the season Thursday night; falling to longtime rival, Lee, 7-1.
With the loss, Shorter finishes the year 3-13-1 overall and 2-12 in conference play; while the Lady Flames go into postseason play with a 13-4 overall mark and a 12-2 conference record.
Lee opened the scoring early, tallying their first goal of the game before a full minute ticked off the clock. The Lady Hawks broke through late in the first frame to tie things up as
Taylor Hendrix posted her fifth goal of the year in the 28th minute. Before, the Lady Flames closed out the first half with a final score to take a 2-1 lead into the break. The second half, however, was all Lee as they tacked on five for the 7-1 score.
For the game, the Lady Flames outshot Shorter 37-5, while holding a 14-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Hendrix led the offense with three shots – two on goal – and one score. While,
Corrie Thomas tallied the remaining two tries – one on goal.
Sydney Durham and
Jamie Allen split time in goal for Shorter, with Durham making the start and tallying three saves through 57:35. Allen added four saves during the final 32:25.
