ROME -- The Lady Hawks second half comeback fell short as they fell to West Alabama, 5-2, Friday evening.
With the loss, Shorter moves to 2-12-1 on the season and 1-11 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Tigers improve to 8-6 overall and 7-5 in conference play.
After falling behind 3-0 in the first half, the Lady Hawks mounted a comeback in the second half to cut the lead to one as
Ashley Keller netted back-to-back goals – the first of her career – to make it a 3-2 game. Only to have the Tigers halt the momentum and tack to final goals for the 5-2 score.
In total, UWA outshot Shorter 20-5, while holding a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal. Keller made the most of her attempts, netting two of three shots on the afternoon;
Amberly Halstead and
Taylor Hendrix added one shot each. While, in goal,
Sydney Durham made five saves.
The Lady Hawks are back in action Sunday afternoon in the final home game of the season as they host Alabama Huntsville for senior day. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
