ROME -- The Lady Hawks swept Auburn Montgomery, 3-0, Tuesday evening in front of the home crowd at the Winthrop-King Centre.
With the win, Shorter improves to 12-8 on the season and 5-3 in conference play; while GSC newcomer, AUM, moves to 8-12 overall and 1-8 in their first season of volleyball.
En route to the victory, the Lady Hawks used set scores of 25-18, 25-23, and 25-16, respectively.
Tiffani Estep led the attack with 10 kills for the match, while
Madeline Munroe added eight and
Danielle Melton chipped in with six.
Alli Bell posted a team high 20 assists, with
Tinsley Fain adding 12. For the night, Shorter posted eight aces with half coming from
Kelsi Jones during a 5-point run in the third set; while
Cheyenne McLemore added three during a similar run in the first.
On the receiving end, McLemore led the way with 13 digs, to go along with 10 from
Morgan Cleveland. The Lady Hawks recorded four total blocks, including a pair of assisted stops from Jones and
Grace Keheley in the third set.
The team goes on the road Friday, October 20, to take on West Georgia at 6:00pm, and returns home Friday, October 27, against West Florida to start a five-game slate of home matches.
