Montgomery, Ala. --Â The Hawks fell to Auburn Montgomery, 4-2, on the road Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, Shorter moves to 3-10 on the season and 2-6 in Gulf South Conference play; while the Warhawks earn their first win of the season and move to 1-13 overall and 1-6 in the GSC.
AUM jumped out to an early lead, scoring three times in the first 25 minutes of the game. Before, the Hawks cut that lead back to one on goals from
Felix Guijosa in the 28th and 50th minutes, respectively. From there, Shorter looked for the equalizer; while the Warhawks looked to extend their lead, and did just that in the final seconds of the game for the 4-2 final score.
In total, AUM led in shots 20-15, while holding a 12-5 advantage in shots on goal 12-5.
Individually, Guijosa led the Hawks, tallying two goals on six shots.
Jordan Etsio and
Justen Macias each tallied two shots in the game – with one on target apiece. Five other Hawks, also registered a shot.
Sean Carpenter played the complete game in goal, making eight saves through 90 minutes.
The Hawks have the week off, before returning home to take on West Alabama in a 7:30pm start from Ben Brady Field on Friday, October 20.
