Carrollton, Ga. --Â The Lady Hawks fell to West Georgia, 2-1, Sunday afternoon from University Field in Carrollton, Ga.
With the loss, Shorter slips to 1-7-1 overall and 0-6 in the GSC; while the Wolves improve to 4-5 on the year and 4-4 in conference play.
West Georgia got on the board first, scoring their first goal of the afternoon in the 6th minute of play, before extending their lead to 2-0 in the 12th minute. From there, the Lady Hawks held the Wolves scoreless, while adding a goal of their own – the first of the season from
Roberta Martire – nine minutes into the second half, for the 2-1 final score.
In total, West Georgia held a 20-10 advantage in shots, including 8-5 in shots on goal.
Sydney Durham turned in six saves for the Lady Hawks, with five coming in the second half. While,
Corrie Thomas and
Madison Morlock led the way on offense with two shots each. With seven other players registered a shot for Shorter in the game.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action Friday, October 6, when West Florida visits Ben Brady Field for a 5:00pm start.
