Lady Hawks Fall to Union On the Road

JACKSON, Tenn. – After a win against Bryan College earlier in the week, the Lady Hawks struggled to find their rhythm tonight, falling to the Union University Bulldogs, 7-0.

Shorter registered six shot attempts on the evening, with three players taking two each. Corrie Thomas and Taylor Hendrix each had shots midway through the opening period, but neither player was able to turn their attempt into a goal.

Trailing 3-0 at the half, the Hawks were unable to cut into the Union lead as the Bulldogs scored four more goals. Shorter managed an additional four shots but none found their way into the back of the net.

Madison Morlock's first attempt in the 67th minute was saved, while her second was wide of the goal. Thomas and Hendrix also shot the ball wide of the net.

Sydney Durham and Jamie Allen split time in goal, as each played 45 minutes. The duo combined for six saves with Durham making four and Allen two. Kristen Francis made three saves in goal for the Bulldogs.

The loss drops the Lady Hawks to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in Gulf South Conference play while Union improves to 3-3-2 with a 3-1-1 mark in conference games.

Shorter will continue GSC action on Sunday afternoon against Christian Brothers University. Kickoff between the Lady Hawks and Lady Bucs is set for 2 p.m. from Signaigo Field in Memphis, Tennessee.
