NASHVILLE, Tn. – Despite a goal and assist from
Darwin Lom, men's soccer fell to Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville on Tuesday afternoon, 3-2.
The loss drops Shorter to 1-4 overall while the Trojans improve to 3-5-1.
Trevecca took twice as many shots as Shorter, registering 18 attempts, while the visiting Hawks had nine. It was the same story for shots on goal as 12 of the Trojans 18 attempts were on goal, compared to just six for Shorter.
Trevecca Nazarene scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute when Nicholas Reinhard converted off a pass from Jeremiah Wright.
Despite trailing at the half, Shorter answered just eight minutes into the final period, when Lom found the back of the net for the team's first goal of the afternoon.
With the game knotted at one goal apiece, the Trojans scored twice to take a 3-1 advantage before Lom assisted a goal by
Jeremy King. King, a freshman forwared. scored just 12 seconds before the end of the game, yet when the final horn sounded, the Hawks fell, 3-2.
Austen Trevers made nine saves in goal for Shorter, whlie Tyler Delgado made four for the Trojans
The Hawks play their second of three straight road games on Friday afternoon against Gulf South Conference opponent Union University. Game time is set 7 p.m. from Jackson, Tennessee.
