Volleyball remains unbeaten with 3-0 win at Valdosta State

Valdosta, Ga. -- The Lady Hawks remained one of NCAA DII's undefeated teams Friday evening, topping Valdosta State 3-0 to start a two game road trip.

The win improves Shorter to 11-0 on the season and 6-0 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Blazers move to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

The Lady Hawks jumped out to the lead with a 25-22 win in the first set, before taking set two 25-23 and finalizing the win with a 25-19 victory in the third set.

Madeline Munroe led the offense for the Lady Hawks with 14 kills on the night; while Tiffani Estep and Hannah Flack added eight on the night. Elizabeth Dowd posted seven for Shorter and Kelsi Jones added six; including the final two of the third set to close out the win.

Cheyenne Frady and Allie Bell split time in the match, turning in 22 and 20 assists, respectively, on the night. Frady also added two service aces to bring her GSC leading total to 22 on the season.

On defense, Dowd recorded a team high 15 digs on the night; while Cheyenne McLemore and Frady each added 10. At the net, the Lady Hawks finished the night with eight blocks with Dowd and Estep recording two solo blocks each on the night.

Shorter will close out the road trip and look to remain unbeaten Saturday at No. 23 West Florida at 3:00pm EST.
