Hawks fall to Lynn on the road

Boca Raton, Fla. -- The Hawks fell to Lynn Saturday afternoon in their first road game of the year.

The Fighting Knights (2-0) got the scoring going early, and didn't let up; taking a 5-0 lead into the second period. The scoring continued in the second as Lynn opened the period with three consecutives scores to make it an 8-0 game. Matt Krisitiansen broke the scoreless streak when found the back of the net for the first time of the day on a pass from Joshua Skinner with 9:40 remaining in the quarter. Peter Masters added a final goal for Lynn in the half, to bring the home team's advantage to 9-1.

In the third, both teams scored three times. For the Hawks, Tyler Kristiansen, Jordan Getz, and M. Kristiansen turned in the goals as Shorter (1-1) entered the final fifteen minutes trailing 12-4. The Hawks final goals of the day came as M. Kristiansen opened the fourth period with his third goal of the game with 13:15 to play and Getz found the back of the net with 7:17 remaining. Lynn tacked on three goals in the quarter for the 15-6 final score.

In total, Lynn outshot the Hawks 51-18, and held a 37-16 advantage in the shots on goal. While Shorter's goalies combined for 22 saves. JR Willers made his first start of the year, tallying nine saves through 24:10; Garry Robinson added 13 saves in 35:50 in goal.

Shorter will return to action February 20 when they welcome Lindenwood University to Ben Brady Field for a 3:30pm start.
