Cleveland, Tenn. -- The Lady Hawks suffered their second loss of the year Thursday evening, falling to longtime rival, Lee University in four sets on the road.
Shorter moves to 13-2 overall and 8-2 in conference play, while the Lady Flames improved to 6-8 on the season and 3-6 in the GSC.
On the night, Lee held the Lady Hawks to a .166 hitting percentage while hitting .266 for the game. the Lady Flames also added 13 blocks in the contest to secure the upset.
Lee jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match after taking the first two sets by 25-22 and 25-23 scores, respectively. Before Shorter forced a fourth set with a 25-22 win in the set three. The Lady Flames closed out the win with a 25-23 decision in the final frame.
Elizabeth Dowd was the only Lady Hawk to reach double-figures in kills with 12 on the night; while
Madeline Munroe added nine and both,
BreAnna Thompson and
Tiffani Estep, finished with seven.
Shorter posted six aces in the match with league leader,
Cheyenne Frady, accounting for half of them. Frady also added 24 assists in the contest, while
Alli Bell recorded 20.
Cheyenne McLemore led the night for Shorter with 22 digs; while Dowd added 15 and Bell turned in 10.
Alicia McClellan finished with three blocks and
Hannah Flack added two.
The Lady Hawks will look to get back in the win column next week when they host Christian Brothers on Tuesday, October 11, at 6:00pm EST in the Winthrop-King Centre.
