CARROLTON, Ga. –
Lora Bruce converted one of her two shots to score her second goal of 2016, but the Lady Hawks fell to West Georgia 2-1 on Thursday evening.
Bruce, a senior midfielder, scored just 20 minutes after kickoff. She placed the ball out of the keeper's reach following a deflection, giving SU a 1-0 advantage early.
After Bruce's goal, neither team scored over the next four 44 minutes, but West Georgia found the equalizer in the 64
th minute when Katie Mitchell netted her sixth goal of the season. The Wolves scored the game winning goal in the 81
st minute, defeating Shorter 2-1.
Shorter took just three shots in the 90-minute game, with a shooting percentage of 33%. All three of the Lady Hawks attempts came in the first period. Bruce took two shots, while
Madison Morlock took one.
For the game, Wolves outshot the Lady Hawks 19-3 and had a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
West Georgia had eight corner kicks, including five in the second half. Shorter's lone corner came off the leg of
Julia Raymond.

Alden Powell made four saves, and UWG's Morgan Springer made one.
The Lady Hawks conclude their 2016 season on Saturday at Valdosta State. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. from the soccer complex on the campus of Valdosta State University.
