Florence, Ala. --Â The Lady Hawks suffered a Saturday setback at the hand of North Alabama; falling to the Lions 3-1 in Florence.
Shorter and North Alabama switch spots in the league standings after the game with the Lady Hawks moving to third and the Lions improving to second. Shorter goes to 15-6 overall and 10-3 in the GSC; while North Alabama improves to 21-4 on the season and 11-3 in conference play.
The Lady Hawks got off to a good start in the match; taking the first set 26-24, before falling in the next three by 25-18, 25-19, and 25-15 scores, respectively.
Elizabeth Dowd was the lone Lady Hawk to get into double-figures in kills; turning in 12 on the afternoon. Tiffani Estep just missed the mark with nine, and Madeline Munroe added eight. Kelsi Jones turned in a strong day at the service line, tallying three aces. And, Cheyenne Frady recorded a team high 25 assists, to go along with Alli Bell's 19 on the afternoon.
On defense, Cheyenne McLemore led the way with 16 digs, and Dowd completed the double-double by also adding 14 digs on the afternoon. It was Estep again for Shorter, who was firm at the net, adding six blocks to go along with the ten she recorded Friday night.Â
Shorter will be back in action Tuesday, October 25, at Union before returning home Friday, October 28, to host West Florida for a 6:00 PM EST start. The Argos won the first meeting of the teams, 3-1, to hand the Lady Hawks their first loss of the season.
