Volleyball rallies past UAH, 3-1

Huntsville, Ala. -- The Lady Hawks started the weekend road trip on a high note, topping Alabama Huntsville 3-1.

The win improves Shorter to 15-5 on the season and 10-2 in the Gulf South Conference, while the Chargers slip to 14-9 overall and 7-6 in conference play.

Shorter rallied to win the first set 31-29, before falling in set two 25-22. And, closed out the win with 25-22 and 25-19 victories, respectively.

Tiffani Estep led the Lady Hawks with 16 kills on the night; while also having a hand in 10 blocks - three solo and seven assisted. 

Kelsi Jones added 13 kills for Shorter, and Elizabeth Dowd and BreAnna Thompson just missed double-figure with nine each. 

Cheyenne McLemore led the effort from the service line; tallying three of the Lady Hawks' seven aces. While, Cheyenne Frady led the way in assists with 34 on the night. Alli Bell added 13.

On the receiving end, McLemore posted a team high 17. Frady joined her in double-figures with 12. Dowd and Morgan Cleveland finished with seven apiece.

In addition to Estep's 10 blocks, Hannah Flack posted four; while both Dowd and Thompson finished with three.

The Lady Hawks will look to keep the momentum going into a tough matchup with North Alabama Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00pm EST from Florence, Ala. Shorter won the first meeting of the teams, topping the Lions 3-2.
