Livingston, Ala. -- The Lady Hawks got back in the win column Wednesday evening, topping West Alabama 3-1 on the road.
Shorter improves to 6-4 overall and 4-3 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Tigers fall to 4-9 on the year and 2-4 in conference play.
Set scores were 25-22, 25-23, 25-13, and 25-20, respectively.
Elizabeth Dowd led the attack for the Lady Hawks, tallying 14 kills on the night.
Tiffani Estep just missed double figures in kills for the match, recording nine.
Cheyenne McLemore and
Cheyenne Frady each turned in three services ace in the win, and
Morgan Cleveland added two for Shorter; who posted ten overall.
Dena Pierce led in assists with 15, Frady chipped in with eight, and Estep added six.
Defensively, McLemore led the Lady Hawks with 23 digs; while Pierce posted ten. In total, Shorter finished with nine blocks on the night with both, Dowd and Estep, having a hand in five each.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action Friday, October 2, when they travel to Carrollton, Ga. to take on West Georgia. Game time is set for 7:00pm at the Coliseum.
