Carrollton, Ga. -- The Lady Hawks swept West Georgia in three sets Friday evening on the road.
Shorter improves to 7-4 overall and 5-3 in Gulf South Conference play; while the Wolves fall to 3-9 on the season and 0-7 in the GSC.
Set scores were 25-11, 25-18, and 25-22, respectively.
Elizabeth Dowd led the offense for the Lady Hawks; tallying 11 kills on the night and hitting .524 overall with no errors.
Alicia McClellan just missed double figures in kills with eight, and
BreAnna Thompson finished the night with six.
Cheyenne Frady posted 16 assists in the match and
Dena Pierce chipped in with 15 in the win. In total the Lady Hawks, recorded 11 services aces with Pierce tallying five.
On the receiving end,
Cheyenne McLemore posted 12 digs; while Dowd finished with 10 and Pierce added eight.
Tiffani Estep led the Lady Hawks in blocks as she had a hand in four on the night.
Shorter will look to keep the momentum going Thursday, October 8, when longtime rival Lee University visits the Winthrop-King Centre for a 7:00pm start.
