ROME -- The Lady Hawks fell to West Georgia 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Ben Brady Field.
With the loss, Shorter falls to 4-4 on the year and 1-2 in conference play; while the Wolves improve to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the GSC.
West Georgia netted what would prove to be the game winner in the 15th minute as Kelly Geary found the back of the net after a shot from Alexis Lewis hit off the post. From that point on Shorter looked for the equalizer, and thought they'd found it when
Jen Rogers took a shot on an open goal, only to see the ball go wide of the target.
All in all, the Wolves outshot the Lady Hawks 15-8, and held the advantage 7-4 in shots on goal.
Alden Powell played the complete game in goal for Shorter, making six saves through 90 minutes.
Shorter will look to turn things around and get back in the win column when they travel to Spring Hill College on Friday, October 2, for a 2:00pm start. Fans unable to make the trip to Mobile can follow all the action at
