ROME --Â The Lady Hawks opened Gulf South Conference play Tuesday afternoon, falling to North Alabama 5-0.
Shorter moves to 3-3 on the year and 0-1 in the GSC with the defeat. While, the Lions, now 6-0-1 on the year and 3-0 in conference play, used the leg of Chloe Richards to earn the win as Richards netted each of the team's goals.Â
Through 90 minutes of play, the Lady Hawks were held to just nine shots, five off the foot of
Jen Rogers; who despite placing three on goal couldn't find the back of the net.
Tabea Kirchner chipped in with three shots, two were stopped by the Lions' keeper while the final went wide in the last seconds of the game.
Amber Miller also added a shot for Shorter in the game.
In goal, the Lady Hawks tallied seven saves – five from
Haley Lademann who played the final 45 minutes.
Alden Powell started in goal for Shorter and made two saves during the first half.
The Lady Hawks will look to get back into the win column Friday as they travel to Valdosta, Ga. to take on the Blazers at 6:00pm; then return home for a Sunday afternoon matchup with West Georgia. Game time is set for 1:00pm against the Wolves.
