Huntsville, Ala. -- After falling to North Alabama Friday evening the Lady Hawks were looking to get back in the win column Saturday afternoon at Alabama Huntsville, and did just that with a 3-0 win over the Chargers.
The win improves Shorter to 4-2 on the year and 2-1 in the Gulf South Conference. While also snapping Alabama Huntsville's 11 match win streak and handing the Chargers their first loss of the year.
Set scores were 25-19, 25-21, and 25-22, respectively.
Elizabeth Dowd led the attack for the Lady Hawks, tallying 15 kills on the day. While
Tiffani Estep chipped in the 10 and
BreAnna Thompson turned in a season high nine in the win.
Dena Pierce posted a team high 22 kills to go along with two services aces, and
Cheyenne Frady added 21 assists and a match high four aces.
Cheyenne McLemore also posted two aced in the match.
Defensively, McLemore led with a match high 15 digs; Pierce just missed double-figures in digs for the match with nine.
Alicia McClellan posted three solo blocks in the game, while Estep assisted in three.
The Lady Hawks will continue their GSC road trip Tuesday at Union for an 8:00pm Eastern start, before returning home for a weekend match up with Valdosta State and No. 20 West Florida. Friday's match against the Blazers is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm, while the match against the Argos is set for 2:00pm Saturday.
