Lady Hawks fall to North Alabama, 78-62

Florence, Ala. -- The Lady Hawks fell to North Alabama 78-62 on the road Thursday evening.

Shorter slips to 9-13 on the season and 5-11 in conference play with the loss, while the Lions move to 11-9 overall and 8-8 in the GSC.

North Alabama kept the Lady Hawks in check in the first half, holding Shorter to 23% from the floor (7-30), and 2-10 from beyond the arc. In the second frame the Lady Hawks picked things up; outscoring the Lions 39-38 in the period, but it wasn't enough as North Alabama held a 17-point halftime lead. In the final 20 minutes Shorter shot 50% percent, making 10-20 shots; while converting 16-19 shots from the free throw line.

Ieshia Alexander led all scorers with 20 points in the contest, and Jackie Hudson came off the bench to add 11 for the Lady Hawks. The Lions finished with three players in double figures – Jennifer Towne (15), Delisa Madry (15) and Makena Randle (13).

Shorter will look to get back in the win column Saturday as they travel to Alabama Huntsville for a 3:00pm eastern time. In the last meeting of the teams, on in December 18, the Lady Hawks topped the Chargers 78-56.
