Hawks fall to North Alabama

Florence, Ala. -- North Alabama topped the Hawks 89-65 in Florence, Ala. Thursday night to sweep the season series.

Shorter drops to 16-6 on the season and 11-5 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Lions improve to 10-12 overall and 7-9 in conference play. However, despite the loss, the Hawks remain at the top of the GSC standings along with Alabama Huntsville and West Georgia – Shorter's next two opponents. And, earned a spot in the GSC tournament thanks to Mississippi College's win over Valdosta State, 87-77.

The Hawks were held to 32% (23-71) shooting in the game, and 25% (7-28) from 3-point range; while North Alabama shot a 49% (29-59) and converted 23-31 free throws. The Lions also held the advantage 46-36 on the boards – pulling down 39 defensive rebounds.

Jordan Jacks led Shorter with 19 points in the game, and Brock Rowan came off the bench to tally 15 points. In total the Hawks' reserves posted 32 points.

Calvin Dade led North Alabama with 24 points, Nathan Spehr added 22 and Brandon Herman chipped in with 15. 

Shorter will look to get back in win column Saturday as they travel to Alabama Huntsville for a 5:00pm eastern tip.
