ROME --Â The Lady Hawks downed West Georgia, 3-0, Thursday night to kick off the final home weekend of the season.
Set scores were 25-18, 25-16, 25-15, respectively.
Shorter improves to 13-10on the year and 11-6 in the GSC with the win, while the Wolves remain winless in the Gulf South Conference, moving to 3-24 overall and 0-17 in conference play.
Tiffani Estep and
Elizabeth Dowd both finished with a team high seven kills on the night; while
BreAnna Thompson posted six, and
Morgan Cleveland and
Alicia McClellan finished with four.
Cheyenne Frady turned in a match high 16 assists and
Dena Pierce added 15 in the win. Shorter also posted a season tying high 12 service aces on the night with Frady finished with 4; which also matched her previous season high.
On the receiving end, Frady led the Lady Hawks with 11 digs, while Dowd chipped in with 10 and
Cheyenne McLemore added eight.
Shorter will return to action from the Winthrop-King Centre for the final time in the regular season Friday evening when they welcome West Alabama to Rome. Prior to the game, the Lady Hawks lone senior,
Dena Pierce, will be honored.Â
