ROME -- It was a team effort for the Lady Hawks Friday evening as they topped Hiwassee 95-37 to stay perfect on the season.
With the win Shorter moves to 2-0 overall; while the Tigers were dealt their 7th consecutive loss to fall to 1-7 on the year.
The Lady Hawks jumped out to an early lead and didn't let up taking a 23-8 advantage into the second quarter where the Shorter reserves made the most of their extended time on the court. In total, during the frame the Lady Hawks added 36 points with 27 of those points coming from beyond the arc as the team combined to shoot 9-12 from three point range to take a 59-13 lead into the second half.
Over the final twenty minutes Shorter tacked on 36 points, while holding the Tigers to 24 for the 95-37 final score.
In the end, all but one Lady Hawk made their way into to the scorebook. With
Raven Fair leading all scorers with 14 points. While,
Kayla Tillie added 13 for Shorter, and
Madison Rice,
Taylor Adams, and
Jackie Hudson added 10 each. Adams and Hudson each finished with 10 rebounds, to turn in their first double-doubles of the year.
Shorter will be back in action Saturday afternoon, as they take on Division I Samford University in an exhibition game in Birmingham, Ala. Game time is set for 3:00pm eastern.
