ROME -- The Lady Hawks swept Mississippi College 3-0 at home Friday evening.
Shorter improves to 9-4 on the year and 7-3 in the Gulf South Conference with the win; while the Lady Choctaws slip to 2-15 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-11, and 24-26, respectively.
Tiffani Estep led the attack for Shorter, tallying nine kills on the night.
BreAnna Thompson was just behind Estep with eight in the game, and both
Elizabeth Dowd and
Alicia McClellan added five. In total, the Lady Hawks tallied 12 service aces,
Cheyenne Frady led the effort with four,
Morgan Cleveland added three, and
Dena Pierce added two. Pierce also tallied 22 assists in the game, and Frady dished out 11.
Defensively, Dowd posted 15 digs to top the Lady Hawks and
Cheyenne McLemore added 14. Shorter posted five blocks with Estep having a hand in four.
Shorter will return to action Tuesday, October 13, when they travel to Memphis, Tenn. to take on Christian Brothers. The Lady Hawks won the first meeting of the teams this season 3-1 on September 15 at the Winthrop-King Centre.
