MEMPHIS --Â The Lady Hawks swept Christian Brothers, 3-0, Tuesday night in Memphis to earn their tenth win of the season and extends their current win streak to five games.
With the win, Shorter moves to 10-4 on the year and 8-3 in conference play; while also earning the season sweep of the Bucs in the process as they won the first meeting of the teams on September 15, 3-1. Christian Brothers slips to 6-12 overall and 3-8 in the GSC with the loss.
Set scores were 25-23, 25-18, and 25-15, respectively.
Tiffani Estep led the attack for Shorter, turning in a match high eight kills; while both,
Lauren Meyer and
BreAnna Thompson added seven each, and
Elizabeth Dowd chipped in with six.
Morgan Cleveland posted four service aces on the night to lead all servers.
Dena Pierce dished out a team high assists with 19 and
Cheyenne Frady added 13 in the win.
Defensively, the Lady Hawks were led by Cleveland and
Cheyenne McLemore; who both recorded 13 digs on the night. While, Dowd added 10 for Shorter. At the net,
Alicia McClellan had a hand in four of the Lady Hawks' seven blocks on the night.
Shorter will return to action this weekend as they travel to Carrollton, Ga. to take part in the 2015 South Region Crossover hosted by the University of West Georgia. Friday, the Lady Hawks take on No. 2 Tampa at 2:30pm. Then on Saturday at 10:00am Shorter faces off against Lynn, and closes out the day against St. Leo at 4:45pm.Â
