Women's Soccer blanks Alabama Huntsville

ROME -- The Lady Hawks kicked off Shorter's Homecoming Weekend on a high note, topping Alabama Huntsville 3-0 at Ben Brady Field.

Jen Rogers made the most of her time in the game, scoring twice and assisting on another to have a hand – or in her case a foot – in each of the Lady Hawks' goals. Scoreless at the break, Shorter (5-6, 2-4 GSC) broke the stalemate in the 47th minute as Rogers found the back of the net on an assist from Chanel Mosely. Seventeen minutes later the Lady Hawks added to it when Tabea Kirchner booted in a pass from Rogers, and the final goal of the night came in the 77th minute as Rogers netted a penalty kick.

In total, Shorter outshot the Chargers (5-5-2, 2-4-1 GSC) 20-10 and held a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal. Rogers led with nine shots in the game, while Taylor Hendrix took six shots. Alden Powell played the complete game in goal for the Lady Hawks, turning in her fourth clean sheet of the year and tallying 5 saves in the win.

Shorter's women will be back in action Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm when West Alabama visits Ben Brady Field.
