Cleveland, Miss. -- The Lady Hawks moved back into the win column Sunday afternoon, topping Delta State 2-1 on the road.
Shorter improves to 6-8 on the year and 3-6 in conference play; while the Lady Statesmen slip to 3-10-1 overall and 0-9 in the GSC.
Jen Rogers got things going for the Lady Hawks, tallying her first goal of the day in the 24th minute, and struck again on a pass from
Katelyn Mullenix in the 68th minute to make it a 2-0 game. Delta State broke through in the 79th minute for the 2-1 final score.
In total the stats were pretty similar for the teams as both turned in 11 shots for the game. Shorter put six on target, while the Lady Statesmen tallied eight in the game.
Haley Lademann played the complete game in goal for the Lady Hawks making seven saves through 90 minutes.
Shorter will return to action and to Ben Brady Field Friday evening when they host Union University for a 5:00pm start.
