Cleveland, Miss. -- The Hawks topped Delta State, 3-0, Sunday afternoon to complete the road trip to Mississippi on a high note.
Shorter improves to 5-7-1 on the season and 3-3 in the Gulf South Conference with the win; while the Statesmen fall to 5-9 overall and 2-5 in the GSC.
Darwin Lom put the Hawks on the board in the 12th minute when he found the back of the net on a pass from
Jack Power. And, the score stood until the 43rd minute when
Charlie Dennis tallied his 7th goal of the year to extend Shorter's lead to 2-0.
Mauricio Rancel then netted the final goal of the day for the 3-0 score in the 63rd minute.
Shorter outshot Delta State 18-12 and held the advantage 11-5 in shots on goal. Shorter 'keeper
Austen Trevers played the complete game in goal, making 5 saves through 90 minutes to record his third clean sheet of the season.
The Hawks will be back in action Tuesday, October 20, when they travel to Dahlonega, Ga. to take on the North Georgia Nighthawks, before returning home for the final homestand of the year against Union and Christian Brothers on October 23 and 25 at Ben Brady Field.
