Dahlonega, Ga. -- The Hawks took a break from Gulf South Conference play Tuesday evening, traveling to Dahlonega, Ga. to take on the University of North Georgia, falling to the Nighthawks 1-0.
Shorter slips to 5-8-1 on the season with the loss; while North Georgia improves to 4-8-2 overall.
The Hawks held the Nighthawks scoreless for much of the game, despite being outshot 22-9 and 8-5 in shots on goal. North Georgia, tallied 16 shots in the second half, and eventually broke through for the game-winner when Irving Salgado finished a corner kick in the 76
th minute.
Nicolas Ferrigno, making his first start of the season, made 7 saves in goal for the Hawks.
Shorter will return to Rome and Ben Brady Field Friday at 7:00pm when they host Union for a Gulf South Conference match-up.
