Clinton, Miss. -- The Lady Hawks started the road trip in Mississippi Friday afternoon, falling to Mississippi College 1-0.
Shorter slips to 5-8 on the year and 2-6 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Lady Choctaws improve to 9-1-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the GSC.
The game remained scoreless until the 62nd minute when Meghan Mauzy netted her first goal of the year and the one that would prove to enough as MC held the Lady Hawks scoreless in the match.
In total, Shorter was held to just six shots on the day – one on goal – while MC tallied 22 shots overall and six on goal.
Jen Rogers tallied five of the Lady Hawks' shots, while
Amber Miller posted the other.
Alden Powell played the complete game in goal for Shorter, and made five saves through 90 minutes.
Shorter will be back in action Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm when they take on Delta State.
