Clinton, Miss. -- The Hawks fell to Mississippi College, 3-1, Friday afternoon to begin their Mississippi road trip.
Shorter falls to 4-7-1 on the season and 2-3 in the GSC with the loss, while the Choctaws improve to 3-8-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the Gulf South Conference.
MC got on the board first as Humberto Pelaez netted his second goal of the year in the 26th minute, to make it a 1-0 game; which they would take into the break. Leading at the half, the Choctaws added two goals in the second frame to extend their lead. But,
Charlie Dennis came through for the Hawks in the 85th minute with his sixth goal of the year for the 3-1 final score.
In total, MC outshot Shorter 22-19; while the Hawks held the advantage 8-7 in shots on goal. Through 90 minutes of work,
Austen Trevers made four saves for Shorter in goal.
The Hawks will return to action Sunday afternoon at 4:30pm on the road against Delta State.
