ROME --Â The Lady Hawks came up just short Saturday afternoon falling to West Florida 69-62 at home.
Shorter moves to 9-12 on the season and 5-10 in the Gulf South Conference, while the Argos improve to 14-5 overall and 11-4 in the GSC.
West Florida pulled away in the first half, leading by 10 at the break. The Lady Hawks sparked a comeback in the second frame; cutting a 16 point Argo lead to 2 on a six minute 20-6 run capped off by a 3-pointer from
Cynara Pitt with 11:03 to play to make it 48-46 game, but couldn't go ahead despite keeping the game close down the stretch.
Ieshia Alexander led the offensive effort for the Lady Hawks; posting a team high 14 points. While, Pitt (10) and
Jackie Hudson (11) also reached double figures on the day. Â Â
Breanna Williams led West Florida with 23 points in the game. Kaite Bobos added 12, Kyla Muhammad chipped in with 11, and Toni Brewer recorded 10.
Shorter will look to get back in the win column Thursday, February 5, as they travel to Florence, Ala. to take on North Alabama. Game time is set for 6:00pm eastern.
